My journey in the waste industry began in Pinetop, Arizona, working for Waste Management (WM), where I had the privilege of meeting Jay Eby. Jay became a mentor and later offered me the opportunity to transfer to Prescott Valley (PV). As a young single mom with no sales experience, I was eager to take on any challenge to provide a stable life for my son. Selling trash services? I had no idea where to start, but I was ready to learn. Under Jay’s guidance, I explored the Yavapai area and discovered I had a knack for connecting with people and talking about trash flows. Over the next 30 years,
Jay taught me the ins and outs of the industry. When he left WM to start Patriot Disposal with Chris Kukyno, they had a bold vision: a waste company built on exceptional customer service. Chris, a beloved figure from his years at Print Pak and in the radio industry, brought his own expertise to the table. Together, the three of us went door-to-door in Prescott Valley, pitching our residential trash service. Jay drove our first truck, affectionately named Alice, while I signed up customers. We had no idea how quickly Patriot Disposal would take off!
Eventually, our paths diverged. I transitioned to working with a landfill business, while Chris pursued a political career, becoming a respected District 4 representative in our community. When Jay sold Patriot Disposal to WM, I saw my chance to carry forward the customer-first legacy we’d built. That’s when I founded Yavapai Waste Solutions, a company dedicated to delivering 100% customer satisfaction to our local communities. We answer every call with enthusiasm and address every need with care. Now, we’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our front-load services to the Tri-City area!
Landfill vs. Transfer Station: What’s the Difference?
- Landfill: A landfill is a permitted site designed to accept specific types of waste, often equipped with a liner to prevent wet waste from contaminating groundwater. For example, Construction & Demolition (C&D) landfills only accept dry debris, like wood or drywall, and typically don’t require liners, which means less environmental testing.
- Transfer Station: A transfer station is a facility where waste is dropped off, usually on a concrete pad, and then loaded into large trailers (often 52 feet long) for transport to a Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) landfill, which is licensed to handle wet debris.
- Concrete Yard: This is a site for clean concrete disposal at a set rate. Since concrete is a dry material and doesn’t seep into the ground, no special permits are required.
Our Services
Since launching in February 2025, Yavapai Waste Solutions has offered a range of roll-off services tailored to your needs:
- Roll-Off Containers: Available in 20-yard (20ft long, 4ft tall), 30-yard (22ft long, 6ft high), and 40-yard (22ft long, 8ft tall) sizes, including enclosed and compactor options. These are ideal for demolition, remodeling, or large projects, with a 10-ton weight limit per ADOT regulations. We work closely with each customer to recommend the right container size for their project, offering both short-term rentals and permanent solutions like compactors.
As of September 1, 2025, we’re excited to expand into front-load services! These bins (3-yard, 4-yard, 6-yard, and 8-yard) are perfect for long-term use at residential properties, restaurants, hotels, and industrial sites. Front-load bins are typically permanent and come with a one-year service agreement, ensuring reliable weekly pickups and top-notch service.
